AP B5 - Protection & Automation
AP B5 covers principles, design, applications, coordination, performance and asset management of:
- System Protection ;
- Substation Control and Automation ;
- Remote Control Systems and Equipment ;
- Metering Systems and Equipment ;
The B5 community is particularly interested in the implementation of modern Substation Automation Systems and the use of IEC 61850 as a significant initiative in delivering major improvements to time and cost of capital projects and on going life cycle operation of assets.
The Panel consists of over 30 members who are active in numerous international Working Groups.
The Panel meets once a year on city rotation usually in the July - August period. The next meeting will be held in Melbourne in September 2009
AP B5 provides a forum for technical discussion through the bi-annual South East Asia Protection & Automation Conference (SEAPAC).
The 2009 event was exteremely well attended with 152 attendees (114 in 2007), 9 exhibitors and 36 technical papers presented.
The next SEAPAC is being planned for 2011 - refer Events section of this web site for any announcements
